Fire Prevention Week

October 9th, 2013

Sirens and bells filled the air and announced the arrival of Captain Jack’s Fire Brigade. The children climbed aboard the fire truck as the firemen explained how they use the ladders and hoses to help put out fires. The shiny red engine glistened as the children explored the interior and had opportunities to sit behind the wheel and on the back of the truck. Captain Jack taught the children the importance of STOP! DROP! and ROLL! as all (even some staff) practiced the drill. The excitement grew as the children helped Captain Jack and the firemen douse a “fire” directing a hose with gushing water at a “replica burning house”.  Firefighter dress-up opportunities were provided and all the children went home with their own Building Blocks fire hats and memories of many new experiences.
